Lupus Awareness Month Webinar - Free CEU

May is Lupus Awareness Month - Learn About State Lupus Registries

In observance of May as Lupus Awareness Month, the Directors of Health Promotion and Education (DHPE) LEAP: Lupus Education and Awareness for Patients, Professionals and Providers Program will offer a webinar focused on advocacy to increase state-level data collection of lupus health disparities. The webinar entitled Lupus State Registries: From Need to Reality in South Carolina highlights the patient-driven efforts in South Carolina to establish a state lupus registry.

The free webinar will be held at 11:30 am EST on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 featuring Dr. Edith M. Williams, MS, who is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences and the Department of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She is the Core Investigator of the MUSC Center for Health Disparities Research.

This webinar will address the following learning objectives:

·        To describe how patient participation in a lupus registry supports closing gaps in health disparities

·        To identify what lupus registries are and why they are important

·        To develop a better format for lupus patients to report their connection to this serious illness
