Title: Assistant Director, Training and E-Learning
LaQueisa Haynes-Smith has over 13 years’ experience in education and training across the academic, government and non-profit sector. Mrs. Haynes-Smith is the Assistant Director, Training and E-Learning at the Directors of Health Promotion and Education (DHPE). She manages DHPE’s training portfolio and has administered over 250 trainings conducted in over 30 states targeted at federal, state and local government public health employees and their local partnering organizations. Additionally, she spearheaded the development of DHPE’s e-learning program that includes an online course for a national project funded by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Community Health. She also oversees health education continuing education credit approval for new continuing education offerings and ensures provision of these CEUs for eligible participants for any professional development and educational offerings through DHPE.
Mrs. Haynes-Smith is an adjunct professor and teaches an online classes for the University of Indiana-Purdue University Indianapolis in their Health Sciences department. While previously employed as Training Specialist for the Texas Department of State Health Services Mrs. Haynes-Smith trained and provided technical assistance to public health staff within the state. During her tenure there, she also led the development of a state-wide conference and aided with planning existing conferences and large meetings. While earning her graduate degree in health education at the University of Michigan-Flint she was employed at the UM-Flint Urban Health and Wellness Center. There she developed and coordinated general health education and awareness programs for students, faculty and staff. In this capacity she also assisted with administration of a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Excellence in Partnerships for Community Outreach, Research on Health Disparities and Training (Project EXPORT) grant, which focused on eliminating health disparities among African Americans. Mrs. Haynes-Smith recently earned a graduate certificate in Teaching and Training at a Distance at University of Maryland University College. She is passionate about achieving health equity as well as teaching, training and developing the public health and healthcare workforce.
